Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

A new opening postdoctoral position in molecular biology is available at University of Cambridge, UK. Applicants should apply before February 21, 2019.

We are looking to recruit a full-time postdoctoral research associate to join Dr Menna Clatworthy in the University of Cambridge Department of Medicine ( The post-holder will assist in generating single cell RNA sequencing data on human organs that contributes information to the Human Cell Atlas project ( This programme of work includes overseeing sample progression from retrieval through to sequence data analysis, using plate and droplet-based technologies in collaboration with colleagues at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. We are particularly interested in tissue-resident immune cells within the renal tract, and their relationship with those in secondary lymphoid organs and peripheral blood. We have already established these technologies within the lab, and the successful applicant would join other lab members involved in data analysis, aiming to identify and utilise cutting edge single cell sequencing and analysis techniques.

The appointee will be involved in several other projects in the lab, and the role has the potential for the researcher to explore their own ideas.

The appointee will have a PhD in relevant subject (e.g. Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genomics) but with a desire to expand bioinformatic and analysis capability, they will have experience of working with tissues and primary cells, analyzing RNA sequencing data in addition to an understanding of single-cell or nuclei RNAseq approaches, and the ethics of working with human tissue samples.

Informal enquiries can be directed to Dr Menna Clatworthy (
