Postdoc Position at Imperial College London

Imperial College London has an opening postdoctoral scholar position in medical sciences. Applications are welcome before February 13, 2019.

The UK Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Gene Therapy Consortium (GTC) has recently partnered with Boehringer Ingelheim and Oxford BioMedica to develop a first-in-class gene therapy for cystic fibrosis patients. We are looking for a Research Associate to provide support for the pre-clinical phase of this translational research programme.

The research programme is led by Professors Eric Alton and Uta Griesenbach at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College. The group is a multi-disciplinary research team and is part of the GTC.

The GTC is the largest group world-wide conducting translational research in CF gene therapy. Combined the GTC has completed six Phase I/IIa and one Phase IIb non-viral gene therapy trial. The latter established, for the first time, that gene therapy can stabilise CF lung disease. The GTC has also developed a lentiviral vector, which is now moving towards clinical trials

You will contribute to developing this lentivirus-based translational programme, which will, amongst other activities, involve research related to assessing efficacy and toxicity of lentivirus-mediated gene transfer in lungs as well as contributions to overseeing out-sourced research at commercial research organisations (CROs).

The postholder will also be expected to contribute to supervision of technicians and students and participate in teaching related activities within College. Other duties include, but are not limited to; conduct data analysis, write reports for submission to research sponsors and direct the work of small research teams

You should have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences or related discipline or equivalent research and have knowledge of gene therapy. It is essential that you have practical experience in a broad range of laboratory techniques and be computer literate with a good knowledge of different computer programs with experience in data analysis and data presentation.
