Overall DescriptionThe ribosome is the cellular protein factory, which translates genetic codes from messenger RNA (mRNA) into proteins. Protein synthesis also requires many translation factors, which play important roles in the process. In our lab, we try to understand how the ribosome and the translation factors work, how they perform the various steps of protein synthesis. This project aims to explore the mechanisms of protein synthesis in the cold bacteria that live between 0 – 15 C.
