Associate Senior Lecturer in Physics with Focus on Climate Modelling and Aerosol-cloud-climate Interactions

LTH forms the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, with approximately 9 000 students. The research carried out at LTH is of a high international standard and we are continuously developing our teaching methods and adapting our courses to current needs.

The Department of Physics is with a staff of about 350 scientists and educators one of the largest departments within Lund University. There are seven research divisions and a number of research centra within the department. The research activities at the department cover a broad spectrum of modern physics.

Physics with focus on Climate Modelling and Aerosol-Cloud-Climate Interactions

The position deals with research using climate and Earth system models with a particular emphasis on implementation and evaluation of aerosol-cloud-climate interaction processes. Climate feedback processes involving terrestrial biota is an additional research focus and requires the full coupling of a dynamic vegetation model to the atmospheric model components of an Earth system model such as EC-Earth. The research is performed within the framework of the Swedish Strategic Research Area MERGE at Lund University (

Employment as an associate senior lecturer is a career development position and aims for the holder to develop her or his independence as a researcher and educator. The work duties mainly involve research and teaching. The position shall include the opportunity for five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. In addition, the LTH Career Academy four-year programme offers career development focusing on teaching, networks, personal development and leadership.

Priority should be given to applicants who have completed their degree or acquired the corresponding expertise no more than five years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree may have been completed earlier.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant's experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 4 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with Chapter 4 Section 12a HEA.

During the period of employment, an associate senior lecturer can apply for appointment to a permanent position as senior lecturer if he or she has the required qualifications listed below, and is deemed to be suitable. An associate senior lecturer can only apply for promotion once.
