The Biothermodynamics Group (Prof. Dr.Ing. M. Minceva) at the Technical University of Munich invites applicants for the position Group Leader Bioseparations We are particularly interested in applications from candidates who demonstrate innovative, risk-taking and ambitious research combining experimental and theoretical approaches. Tasks - Perform independent, cutting-edge research in the area of bioseparations, with a focus on food, pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries - Continuous development of new research topics within the group strategy - Proactive acquisition of third-party funding - Support and guidance of doctoral candidates and undergraduate students in research - Teach engineering courses (thermodynamics, separation processes) at Bachelor and Master level Your profile - PhD degree in (Bio)Chemical Engineering, (Bio-)Process Engineering or other relevant area - Sound research experience in the area of separation processes with preference to biomolecules - Ample experience in process modeling, simulation and optimization - Solid theoretical background in thermodynamics of mixtures - 1-3 years of postdoctoral or industrial experience in the field of bioseparations is beneficial - Experience in analytical methods and design of experimental set-ups is beneficial - Strong communication skills, organizational talent and great interest in interdisciplinary collaboration - Knowledge of German language is an advantage Our offer The position is open from March 1st 2019 and initially limited to 1.5 years, with a clear option for extension. Payment is according to qualification and follows TV-L (German Collective Agreement for Public Services). Substantial experimental facilities for the development of new ideas are available.
