Research Assistant in Polymer and Composites Engineering

Imperial College London is delighted to offer a postdoctoral position in mechanical engineering. This position is closed on January 03, 2019.

The Department of Aeronautics is seeking researcher to develop novel bacterial cellulose reinforcement architecture to maximise shock absorbance, as well as impact resistance. This project is funded through DSTL and builds upon the vast knowledge and know-how on the design of bacterial cellulose-reinforced polymer composites and the recent successful preliminary research conducted by the same research team on enhancing the impact resistant of acrylic with bacterial cellulose.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a genuine passion and excellence in research via their track record Materials Engineering. The applicant should have extensive knowledge on nanocellulose, fracture toughness testing and have extensive experience in producing cell-cast acrylic.

Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Aeronautics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
