Research Assistant at University of Cambridge

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in molecular biology to join University of Cambridge, UK. The funding allows successful candidates to work for 3 years in the first instance. Candidates are welcome before February 01, 2019.

Applications are invited for a Research Associate position to work with Dr. David Gershlick’s group at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR).

The Gershlick lab works on the logistics of membrane traffic, using a range of techniques, combining molecular biology, genome engineering, proteomics, light microscopy and super-resolution microscopy.

The successful applicant will work on understanding secretory transport to the plasma membrane. They will be highly self-motivated, productive, and possess strong problem solving and interpersonal skills. He/she should also be able to work independently, accurately judge priorities, and have excellent organisational and communication skills.

The candidate must have a PhD in a relevant subject or have recently submitted their PhD thesis. Experience in proteomics, and familiarity with advanced microscopy techniques, would be an advantage. A strong background in cell biology is essential.

This Research Associate position will be for 3 years initially, with an expectation of an extension to the end of the 5-year funding.

The successful candidate will join the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR), part of the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine. The Institute provides modern laboratory accommodation and state of the art research facilities on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus As part of the University of Cambridge Clinical School, each Principal Investigator is affiliated to a home department which includes Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Medicine, Medical Genetics, Clinical Neurosciences and Pathology.
