Research Assistant at Imperial College London

A new postdoctoral fellowship position in bioinformatics is available at Imperial College London. The initial contract for this position is 18 months and posible to extend. This position is closed on January 04, 2019.

The Prostate Cancer Research group, in the Division of Cancer, invite applications for a Research Assistant position from highly-motivated applicants with an enthusiastic interest in the roles of non-coding RNAs as biomarkers of DNA damage and therapeutic response in prostate cancer.

You would be joining a dynamic and expanding group, undertaking collaborative and multidisciplinary work with the aim of understanding and combating resistance to therapy in advanced prostate cancer. The role will involve liaison between laboratory and clinical teams. It will also involve extensive collaboration with the Institute of Cancer Research and will also other leading institutions in the UK and US, offering excellent opportunities to develop skills and networks.

The successful candidate will hold a First Class or an Upper Second Class degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in molecular/cell biology or immunology, or a closely-related discipline. A related MRes/MSc and publications in peer-reviewed journals are highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a broad range of molecular and cell biology techniques, with skills in the following being particularly desirable: culture of primary human cells and cell lines, qRT-PCR, processing of biofluids and human tissue, small RNA functional assays, cell transfection and viral transduction, although full training will be given. Proficiency in basic bioinformatics and statistical operations is also advantageous. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively within a small research sub-team and have a positive outlook to motivate others to achieve project goals.

This post is full time and fixed-term for 18 months.
