Postdoctoral Postdoc Position at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship position in computer science to join University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, USA. The initial contract for this position is two years. Applicants should apply as soon as possible.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to work with Professor Andrew Mann on any of a variety of projects including: 1) follow-up of planets identified around young and late-type stars by the K2 and TESS missions, 2) techniques to measure fundamental properties of M dwarfs and young stars, 3) design and construction of Smallsats/Cubesats (1U-12U) for planetary and stellar astronomy, and/or 4) transmission spectroscopy of young transiting exoplanets. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in or lead one or more of these programs or other research of their own design in a related area, particularly if the work involves other members of the team. The position is intended for two years, with a third contingent on performance and availability of funding. The position start date is flexible, but likely to be the Summer of Fall of 2019. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field prior to the start date.
