Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge has an opening postdoctoral scholar position in molecular biology. The initial contract for this position is two years. Applications should be sent before January 10, 2019.

We are looking to recruit a full-time postdoctoral research associate to join Dr Frank McCaughan’s laboratory in the University of Cambridge, Department of Medicine.

The post will utilise a recently established model to test a series of compounds for potential efficacy in the chemoprevention of lung cancer (Correia et al, AJRCCM 2017- PubMed: It will involve complex cell culture techniques including organotypic/organoid culture, RNA-Seq analysis, candidate drug testing in these culture systems and target validation u; sing CRISPR and shRNA.

We are seeking to recruit at post-doctoral level but will consider applicants, who have recently submitted, or are in the process of submitting, a PhD degree. The relevant methods are established within the lab, and the successful applicant would help refine a pipeline for testing and validation of therapeutic compounds.

The ideal candidate will have a background in translational cancer biology or respiratory epithelial biology and experience in organoid culture, CRISPR and cell and molecular biology techniques. Experience in handling RNA-Seq data and image analysis would be an advantage. They will further have strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.
