Outstanding international students are invited to apply for a PhD scholarship in combustion at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The funds for this position are available for two years. The deadline for applying is January 18, 2019.

The growing demand for environmentally-neutral transport is a key driver behind the increased integration of IC engine mechanics, thermodynamics, chemical engineering and mechatronic subsystems. The PhD position advertised here is a collaboration between the Division of Internal Combustion Engineering at the KTH Department of Machine Design and Scania CV AB and FFI.
The project aims to reduce the environmental impact of engines for heavy vehicles through the use of the latest mechatronics. The research focus is on how to avoid unwanted self-ignition (so called "knock") in ignition gas engines through the use of modern sensors and rapid control technology. One of the most important aspects of the project is to investigate how rapid control technology enables efficient use of biogas of varying quality.
The project takes place in close collaboration between academia and industry. As a PhD student, you will be stationed in industry and one or more internships will be a natural aspect of the education.
Applicant shall have, or be close to receiving, a Master of Science (or equivalent M.Sc.) in mechanical, energy, automotive, regulatory, computer, electrical engineering, mechatronics or technical physics.
In order to succeed as an doctoral student at KTH you need to be goal oriented and persevering in your work.
Only those who are or have been admitted to third-cycle studies may be employed as a doctoral student. The term of the initial contract may not exceed one year and may thereafter be extended. Doctoral students may engage in teaching, research, and administration corresponding to a maximum of 20 % of a full-time position.
Apply for the position and admission through KTH’s recruitment system. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the application is complete in accordance with the instructions in the advertisement.
Applications must be received at the last closing date at midnight, CET/CEST (Central European Time/entral European Summer Time).
