A new PhD position in computer science is available at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The funding allows successful candidate to work for 5 years. This position is closed on January 15, 2019.

This doctoral student has a focus on production logistics and refers to a graduate degree in technology licentiate in the subject of Industrial Production. The position is a 100% employment in 2.5 years, of which 80% are postgraduate and 20% education.
You are expected to conduct your PhD student project in the field of production logistics with active involvement in the 3-year EU-project HUPMOBILE (Holistic Urban and Urban Mobility) at KTH in Sdertlje. Focus on your research education will be application of modeling, simulation and optimization to achieve sustainable production logistic flows.
To be suitable for the position, we believe you have a background within simulation and optimization, computer science or IT-based supply chain management/production systems. You will be part of a growing research group in production logistics, focusing sustainability and digitalisation for future industrial settings. The education will cover 20% in undergraduate education at the Department of Sustainable Production Development. Research and training in production logistics at KTH is conducted in close cooperation with Swedish industrial companies, and the education is in Swedish, so an ability or ambition to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing is prerequisite for the work.
To be eligible, you must have a M.Sc. degree or equivalent with a focus on simulation and optimization, computer science or IT-based supply chain management/production systems or other orientation which provides good preparation for studies production engineering at research level.
In order to succeed as an doctoral student at KTH you need to be goal oriented and persevering in your work.
Knowledge of logistic processes in manufacturing industry, of key concepts in Industry 4.0 and of the use of development tools and software for modeling, simulation and visualization of production logistics are meritorious for the position, as well as ability to express yourself in Swedish. Knowledge in English is mandatory for the position.
Only those who are or have been admitted to third-cycle studies may be employed as a doctoral student. The term of the initial contract may not exceed one year and may thereafter be extended. Doctoral students may engage in teaching, research, and administration corresponding to a maximum of 20 % of a full-time position.
