PhD Scholarship at University of Ghent

University of Ghent has an opening PhD position. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2019.

The Particle and Interfacial Technology group (PaInT) is looking for a talented PhD student, who will work on the FWO project "Bringing forward osmosis closer to the market: novel membranes, module design and integrity monitoring", which will kick off on January 1st, 2019. The project will in general deal with water recovery from polluted sources through membrane filtration, and is a collaboration between Ghent University, KU Leuven and UPC, Barcelona. The focus of this work will be membrane defects: the influence of defects on membrane transport properties; creation, detection and sealing of defects. The consequences of membrane defects on process performance will be investigated from a fundamental perspective.

The PaInT group focuses on physico-chemical water treatment processes, among which membrane filtration. We offer a diverse research group, having both an extended academic and industrial network. PaInT is also embedded in the Capture consortium, focusing on resource recovery from various waste streams (

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate willing to obtain a PhD. The research will take place in an academic setting.
