Assistant Professor in European Law at University of Amsterdam

University of Amsterdam is offering professor position in european law. The initial contract for this position is two years. All candidates regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply before January 03, 2019.

The Amsterdam Law School has an opening for one assistant professor (UD2) position in European Law (0,8 to 1fte)

The University of Amsterdam's Law School prides itself on its international orientation and strong social commitment. This is reflected by both its research and educational activities. The Amsterdam Law School offers three Bachelor's programmes, including the interdisciplinary English-language Bachelor Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE) in cooperation with two other Faculties, as well as a variety of Master’s programmes, several of which are taught exclusively in English (i.e. International and European Law, European Private Law, International Criminal Law, and Law & Finance). The Amsterdam Law School prepares students for a wide variety of legal careers including law firms, government, business and industry, the national and international judiciary, public service, human rights advocacy, and academia. With 3,700 students and over 400 staff members, it is one of the largest law faculties in the Netherlands.

The section European Law is part of the Department for Public International and European Law and is responsible for coordinating and teaching the first-year Bachelor course European Law, a minor on European Integration and Disintegration, and the Master tracks European Union Law and European Competition Law and Regulation.

As assistant professor you will be part of the lively and supportive intellectual environment of the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance and its cooperation platform Law and Justice Across Borders.

The appointment will be for the periodof one year initially, with the possibility of an extension for a maximum of 2 more years depending on good performance.The starting date of the appointment is as soon as possible.

The gross full-time monthly salary will be in accordance with the salary scales for Assistant professors at Dutch universities, scale 11 (Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities)ranging from 3,637 to 4,978 gross per month (full-time equivalent). Secondary benefits at Dutch universities are attractive and include 8% holiday pay and an 8,3% end-of-year Bonus.
