Sensetime Computer Vision Postgraduate Research Scholarship

A fully-funded PhD fellowship in computer science is available at The University of Sydney. This position is available for 6 months. The deadline for applying is November 19, 2018.

Funded by the SenseTime Group Limited and administered by the University of Sydney, an opportunity is available for an outstanding Masters by Research scholar in the area of computer vision.

The project aims to investigate new feature extraction and classification methods and their applications in face recognition, object recognition, and activity and event recognition.

Applicants must be currently enrolled or have an unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a Masters by Research within the School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sydney, and be willing to undertake research in the field of computer vision.

Applicants must also hold a bachelor degree in Computer Science or related disciplines with a minimum mark of 85.

As part of the terms of the project, applicants will be required to sign a Deed Poll to assign the rights to the University and subsequently to SenseTime Group Limited for any intellectual property (IP) that is created under this project. This is a precondition for participation.

The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the nomination of the relevant research supervisor(s) in the School of Electrical Engineering.

The Scholarship will provide a stipend allowance of $20,106 (fixed amount) for up to 9 months, subject to satisfactory academic performance. The recipient may apply for an extension of up to 6 months subject to availability of funds.

Academic course fees are also provided for a successful international applicant, for the same duration as the stipend.

Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree prior to the commencement of the Scholarship, will be deducted from the maximum duration of the Scholarship excluding the potential extension period.

The Scholarship is for commencement in relevant research period in which it is offered for and cannot be deferred or transferred to another area of research.

No other amount is payable. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funding.

Progression is subject to passing the annual progress review.
