University of Cambridge is offering postdoctoral associate position in computational biology. Successful candidate will have funding to work and study for 3 years in UK. Potential candidates should apply before December 31, 2018.

A position is available for a postdoctoral Research Assistant/Associate in bioinformatics to work in the research group of Professor Tony Kouzarides. The work involves the study of chromatin and RNA modification pathways and their roles in cell biology and cancer. Based on the applicant’s qualifications, experience and aptitude, the roles and duties will range from collaborative bioinformatics support for the group, to leading autonomous research projects aimed, for example, at developing novel computational methods for epitranscriptomics, such as methods based on Nanopore sequencing.

The successful applicant should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Mathematics, Statistics or similar, or be close to completion of their degree. S/he will also have proven experience in the processing, analysis and management of large amounts of next generation sequencing datasets such as RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, CLIP-Seq and RIP-Seq. The required skills include proven programming experience in Bash and R, Python or Matlab, as well as experience with dealing with large amounts of -omics data. Familiarity with Linux and job scheduling on high performance cluster environments are also required. The successful applicant will also have excellent communication (written and oral) and documentation skills.
