Postdoctors on Algorithms for Deep Learning at Lund University

Lund University, Sweden is offering postdoc position in artificial intelligence. The funding allows successful candidate to work for three years. Applicants should apply before January 02, 2019.

LTH forms the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, with approximately 9 000 students. The research carried out at LTH is of a high international standard and we are continuously developing our teaching methods and adapting our courses to current needs.

Do you want to be part of a research environment committed to address the challenges essential to create a future sustainable society that meets the needs of humanity? Then the WASP Expeditions positions are aimed for you!

Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) is Sweden's largest ever individual research program, a major national initiative for strategically basic research, education and faculty recruitment. The program is initiated and generously funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW) with 2.6 billion SEK. In addition to this, the program receives support from collaborating industry and from participating universities to form a total budget of 3.5 billion SEK. Major goals are more than 50 new professors and more than 300 new PhDs within AI, Autonomous Systems and Software. The vision of WASP is excellent research and competence inartificial intelligence, autonomous systems and software for the benefit of Swedish industry. Deep learning has found tremendous success in many application areas over the last couple of years. The machines are typically trained by solving the nonconvex training problem using variations of stochastic gradient descent. This project will develop novel algorithms for deep learning training by formulating the training problem in ways that are inherently more numerically robust than traditional formulations. This will result in methods that allow for deeper networks to be trained efficiently and accurately. The project is part of the WASP Expedition project ICARUSIntelligent Cell-free Access for wiReless Ubiquitous Services. This is a cross-disciplinary project between LiU and LU. The LiU part of the project will focus on suitable ways to apply deep learning to overcome challenges in future wireless communication networks. The cross-discipinary nature of the project gives unique possibilities to evaluate devised algorithms on relevant problems in wireless communication as well as giving input on the design of such networks.

Principal investigator at Lund University is associate professor Pontus Giselsson (http://www.control.lth.se/staff/pontus-giselsson/).
