Postdoc Position *research Assistant at Imperial College London

Imperial College London, UK is inviting applicants to apply for a postdoctoral scholar position in computer science. Applicants should apply before January 06, 2019.

The Data Science Institute (DSI), headed by Professor Yike Guo, is seeking an exceptional data analyst/data engineer to join an enthusiastic team to develop body sensor systems.

The DSI launched in April 2014 as Imperial College's fifth cross-faculty Institute provides a focal point for multidisciplinary data-driven research, supplying technology support for partners, and educating the next generation of data scientists.

The successful candidate will be expected to work on the EPSRC SmartHeart project to develop machine learning techniques that in combination with rich multimodal imaging data can be used to build a predictive model of cardiac diseases and its associations with cardiac shape and motion. The project aims to integrate the developed techniques into a large-scale data ware house and analysis platform.

You will be expected to fully collaborate with team members and collaborating with partner biomedical research projects on data analysis and management; providing training/support to technical and non-technical end-users; contributing to the dissemination of work within the group and also externally at national and international conferences by presentation, publication and demonstration.

The successful candidate will be expected to: develop novel machine learning algorithms for analysis of cardiac MR images and integrate the developed techniques into a large-scale data warehouse and analysis platform based on the XNAT and tranSMART platform, providing clinicians with a unified platform for clinical study; develop automatic pipeline for data integration and analysis; and to develop an intuitive web based interface to enable clinicians who may have little IT background to visualise population-level medical images and corresponding analysis results (such as segmentation results or phenotype statistics) and to retrieve cases of clinical interests.

To apply you must have a PhD (or equivalent) in a subject relevant to medical imaging, computer science, electrical engineering, and software engineering with particular expertise in medical image analysis, computer vision or machine learning.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range 33,380 to 35,061 per annum

You should have a track record of medical imaging, image analysis, machine learning and data management.

A proven research record with publications in the relevant areas is also required. You must be fluent in English.
