Postdoc Position at Imperial College London

Applications are invited for a postdoc position in social sciences to join Imperial College London, UK. The initial contract for this position is 18 months and posible to extend. Candidates are welcome before December 12, 2018.

Salary: 37,904 – 45,547 per annum

A Research Associate position is available in the Centre for Environmental Policy within the Faculty of Natural Sciences, at the South Kensington Campus.

The purpose of the post is to the manage and carry out all research tasks relating to the COSMOS, BIORESUE and BIOMATE projects, funded by the EU Horizon2020. The three research projects focus on socio-economic assessment of value chains and analysis of stakeholders and policy assessment. This role entails the management of the projects, including communication with coordinators and other partners, attending meetings (face to face andonline meetings), and to seminars and conferences to disseminate the research and its findings. You will also be expected to produce reports, journal articles, policy briefings and other deliverables, required on the projects.

- To manage the COSMOS, BIORESUE and BIOMATES projects.

- To monitor budgets, communicate with coordinators and partners, and carry out tasks needed to achieve all aims and deliverables

- To conduct research on socio-economic indicators using EU and other international databases in agreement with the objectives each of the three projects.

- To undertake administrative tasks relating to three projects.

- To prepare reports, journal articles, presentations, and other relevant documents.

- To apply social and economic methodologies according to the objectives of the projects.

- To take initiatives in the planning of research

- To interpret and analyse all relevant qualitative and quantitative data.

- To assist the academic team in liaising with all project partners

- A PhD (or equivalent) qualification and experience in environmental and social sciences discipline.

- Background in Life Sciences or Social Sciences.

- Experience in socio-economic analysis

- Experience in policy analysis

- Experience of working on multi-stakeholder projects

- Experience in the analysis of bioenergy systems

- Proven research skills in socio-economic and energy policy

- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to deal with people from various backgrounds

- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write clearly and succinctly for publication

- Ability to synthesise, summarise and articulate complex ideas for a range of audiences

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Creative approach to problem-solving

- Ability to prioritise own work in response to deadlines

This is a fixed term position available for up to 18 months with a possibility of extension subject to funding.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range 33,380 – 35,061 per annum.
