PhD Studentship Analysing The Smart Cities Movement and The Strategic Value of Co-production

Are you interested in undertaking a PhD to investigate Smart Cities and their role in safeguarding the social, environmental and economic needs of present and future generations?

We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD student who will undertake original research in the field of Strategy, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. The candidate will be expected to apply advanced social science theory and methods to carry out ground-breaking research on the Smart Cities movement. It is anticipated that the student will refine the focus of the study with their supervisors, and that it will likely engage with conceptual debates related to the role and nature of stakeholder engagement in the context of Smart Cities and the complex debates that will characterise the mobilization of these city wide projects, including the interplay between different interests and power dynamics.

This funded PhDs will commence from 1st October 2019. A yearly stipend at current RCUK rates (14,777), plus UK/EU student tuition fees (4,350), is available to the successful applicant.

Entry onto our PhD programme is very competitive. If you fulfil all of the admissions requirements, it does not guarantee that you will be offered a place.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview to be held in Nottingham on Thursday 7th February 2019.The successful candidates will be notified by Friday 15th February 2019.
