PhD Scholarship in New Coating Systems for Durable and Highly Resistant Coatings

Technical University of Denmark is offering PhD position in polymers. Successful candidate will have funding to work and study for 3 years in Denmark. The deadline for applying is November 27, 2018.

The PhD project will be conducted in collaboration between the CoaST and DPC research centres at DTU Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.

The research field of this PhD position covers modification of polymers as well as formulation of coating systems. The main emphasis of the project will be on development and testing of novel coating systems targeting highly durable and resistant coatings.

Responsibilities and tasks

The overarching objective for this PhD project will be to develop new coating systems by modification of commercially available raw materials. We intend this project to both work on modification of polymers for new binder systems as well as on formulation, test and characterization of formulated coating systems.

You should be interested in and open to interaction with students at all levels during your PhD, since supervision of student projects will be expected as part of the project.


Candidates should have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.

Approval and Enrolment

The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see the DTU PhD Guide.


The assessment of the applicants will be made by the assessment committee.

Salary and appointment terms

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
