ETH Zurich, Switzerland is inviting excellent students to apply for a PhD position in political science. Successful candidate will have funding to work and study for three years in Switzerland. Applications will be evaluated on a continuous basis.

The Center for Law & Economics at ETH Zurich has approximately 40 group members from law, economics, and computer science. At the Center, Professor Stefan Bechtold invites applications for a new position.We are looking for a highly qualified, research-oriented student with a legal education and an interest in one of the areas of law listed above. Are you interested in writing a Ph.D. thesis (paper-based, in English) participating in the international law & economics discourse that uses empirical and/or experimental research methods? At our Center, students can conduct internationally oriented fundamental research as part of a highly motivated team at a leading research university. We offer an interdisciplinary environment, close supervision, and excellent contacts with leading scholars at U.S. universities. Our Ph.D. students work on an interdisciplinary project for about three years, using empirical and/or experimental methods. We offer comprehensive training in social science methods in the first year. This may include courses in economics, political science, and/or statistics at ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, the Study Center Gerzensee, or at international summer courses. Second-year students will take specialized courses tailored to their individual Ph.D. projects. We offer our Ph.D. students ideal working conditions and a competitive salary, as well as limited organizational or teaching duties, ensuring that they can focus almost entirely on their own research. We provide support for attending international conferences and workshops, and for research stays abroad. The working language of the Center for Law & Economics is English.
