Open-oxford-cambridge Ahrc PhD Training Partnership Open University/ahrc PhD Studentships

A new opening PhD position in humanities is available at Open University, UK. This position is closed on January 11, 2019.

The Open University is pleased to offer Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding through the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership (OOC DTP). The DTP is a consortium of three universities underpinned by world-class research and training environments, supported by strategic partnerships with the BBC World Service, the National Trust and British Telecom.

The Open-Oxford-Cambridge DTP will be awarding more than 385 AHRC-funded PhD studentships over a five-year period and up to 77 studentships (part-time or full-time) are available across the consortium for October 2019 entry. AHRC PhD studentships are available to UK and EU residents via the Open University across all three AHRC subject classifications: 'Histories, Cultures and Heritage', 'Creative and Performing Arts', and 'Languages and Literature'. Full details of eligible subject areas are in the Further Particulars (see below).

Awards for UK residents cover all tuition fees and provide a maintenance grant at the standard RCUK rate (14,777 p.a. in 2018/19). Awards for students ordinarily resident in an EU country other than the UK are fees-only.

The Open University is internationally recognized for innovative research across the Arts and Humanities. We host a number of major AHRC- and ESRC-funded research projects. We have a strong commitment to cross-disciplinary work, to national and international public engagement, and to creative partnerships with a range of non-university partners.
