Lecturer in Swedish for Specific Purposes at Chalmers University of Technology

Applications are invited for a lecturer position in nanotechnology to join Chalmers University of Technology. This position is closed on November 21, 2018.

Information about the division

The Division for Language and Communication is part of the Department of Communication and Learning in Science and provides language and technical communication education for most of the engineering programmes at Chalmers at BSc, MSc, and PhD levels. We meet with both national and international student groups on our two campuses. In close collaboration with program managers, we design our courses and interventions as integrated into other courses in order to continuously promote the discipline-specific communication situations the students face during their education and thereafter. Many of our solutions therefore comprise entire programs and our teams of teachers are often expected to assume the role of a specific programme's communication team and design and deliver all the communication-related courses in Swedish as well as in English across a programme.

Job description

We need to ensure continued strong development in our profile within technical communication for our respective areas and therefore invite candidates to apply for a position. Our contribution in the area of technical communication has increased significantly and in addition to our established courses and programmes we are asked to design new educational interventions for technical and academic communication in Swedish as well as in English. The candidates will be expected to work in our different teams of teachers in integrated courses as well as in supervising communication processes in various disciplinary settings. The posts may also involve single responsibility for a course and contribution to materials development.

The job includes undergraduate and graduate teaching, materials and educational development work.

The position is a part-time temporary employment, 50-75%.

Qualifications

PhD or MA in Swedish or English, educational lingustics, rhetoric and composition; PhD or MA in pedagogy or teaching with a focus on language. Corresponding degrees will also be considered.
