Senior Postdoc Position in Biomedical Ethics at Technical University of Munich

Technical University of Munich is offering postdoctoral fellowship position in artificial intelligence. Applications will be evaluated on a continuous basis.

The Institute for History and Ethics of Medicine/Chair in Ethics in Medicine and Health Technologies is looking for a full-time/(50 % part-time is possible) Senior research associate in biomedical ethics Duration and starting date: Three years (option of renewal), starting immediately. Salary depending on qualifications; TV-L E13 100 % (50 % part-time possible). Job description:

A full-time position for a senior research associate is available at the Institute for History and Ethics of Medicine, Technical University of Munich (Prof. Dr. Alena Buyx, Director and Professor of Ethics in Medicine and Health Technologies). The Institute has recently changed its focus towards working on a broad range of ethical and social issues in biomedical research and clinical practice, with particular emphasis on the ethical and social implications of emerging health technologies (including artificial intelligence, robotics, data-driven and precision approaches to medicine, etc.). Other key areas include research ethics (e.g. participatory approaches and citizen science) and public health ethics (e.g. solidarity studies in medicine and health).

Requirements:

Candidates should have completed a doctorate in philosophy, medicine, bioethics or a related discipline and should have experience in conducting and publishing research at an international level. Experience with empirical methods in ethics (quantitative/qualitative) is an asset. Candidates' research should fall within the Institute's novel areas of work, as sketched above. Candidates are expected to support the work at the Institute, while also devel-oping their own portfolio and profile. There is the opportunity, if suitable, to do a 'Habilitation'. There is a moderate teaching requirement, and candidates are encouraged to apply for competitive grants.

All candidates must have strong analytical skills as well as a demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary and team-work. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of German would be an asset.
