The Faculty of Information Technology comprises over 130 academic faculty members, numerous professional staff and many thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate students. It offers vibrant and creative programs across all core IT and related subject areas, and in addition has extensive research efforts organised around core competency areas as follows: Systems and Cybersecurity, Data Science, Education, Computer-Human Interaction and Creativity, and Organisational and Social Informatics.

Research in the Computer-Human Interaction and Creativity (CHIC) group explores the future of human-computer interaction. It employs participative design ensuring the user is centre-stage. It is built around sensiLab, a multi-million dollar multi-disciplinary maker-space supporting advanced visualisation, interaction and digital design and fabrication, and Immersive Analytics which explores how new interaction and visualisation technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality can support collaborative decision making and data analytics.

We are seeking a Virtual Reality (VR) software developer to join a team in creating an on-road driving simulator. Using a simulation technique known as Wizard-of-Oz, the simulator will create a realistic experience of driving an autonomous vehicle (AV), while safely riding in a real car with a human driver.

To be considered, you should possess the relevant knowledge and experience to create VR experiences, using tools such as Unity. You will also have creative problem-solving skills, and excellent written communication and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to produce clear, succinct reports and documents.
