Research Assistant Markowetz Lab at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge, UK has an opening postdoctoral fellowship position. The initial contract for this position is two years. Candidates are welcome before November 01, 2018.

The Markowetz Lab at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (a part of the University of Cambridge) is seeking to hire a motivated and dedicated Research Assistant to join a focused experimental research team studying mechanisms to bypass resistance and reduce side-effects in the treatment of cancer.

Our research laboratory integrates computational and experimental research to answer key questions regarding the evolution of cancer, the impact of tumour microenvironment, the molecular interactions that drive cancer growth and how cancer varies between patients.

The successful candidate will form part of our focus on the molecular interactions that drive cancer. We are looking to recruit an eager experimental scientist who will gain experience in the latest single-cell sequencing and CRISPR technologies. We aim to apply these methods to support our team in elucidating molecular mechanisms of resistance in both breast cancer and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, with a long-term goal of bypassing these mechanisms using combination therapies.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and has a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a related field and practice lab experience that includes cell culture, molecular cloning and methods of gene delivery.

Good communication and organisational skills will be key to coordinate the projects with other researchers in the group and the successful candidate should show initiative and independent thinking, possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.

Informal enquiries may be made to andrew.holding@cruk.cam.ac.uk
