Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Mental Health and Technology

The University of Sydney is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a PhD position. The funding allows successful candidate to work for three years. The deadline for applying is October 21, 2018.

New and emerging technologies are rapidly changing the world we live in, including the way we assess, monitor and manage our mental health and wellbeing. Project Synergy is tasked with co-designing, building and testing innovative technology solutions that may help reform Australia's mental health system. A unique opportunity exists for one (or more) Research Masters or PhD scholars to help us realise the future of merging technology and mental health for better outcomes. This research will be undertaken at the University of Sydney's Brain and Mind Centre.

1. Thisscholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled in a Masters by Research or PhD at the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney. 2. Theapplicant must conduct research in the area of mental health and technology. 3. Applicantsmust be able to demonstate knowledge, skills and experience in mental health and the use of technology. 4. Applicantsmust have completed at least one of the following: afour year Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding record of professional and/or research achievements since graduation, or 5. Applicantsmust be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident. 1. Thesuccessful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the basis of: previous research experience and knowledge in mental health and the use of technology, recommendation from at least two referees, and a cover letter which demonstrates their interest in mental health and the use of technology. 2. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview. 3. Thesuccessful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship by the nomination of the Director of Research, Governance, Design and Analytics and Director of Clinical and Service Implementation, Project Synergy Research and Development Group.

TheScholarship will provide an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate (indexed on 1 January each year) for up to two years for a Masters by Research, or three years for a PhD, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Anextension of up to six months for a PhD recipient may be available, depending on the availability of funds.
