Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Telecommunications

The University of Sydney, Australia is inviting excellent candidates to apply for a PhD position in wireless communication. The funds for this position are available for 6 months. The deadline for applying is November 13, 2018.

An opportunity is available for an outstanding Masters by Research or PhD scholar in the area of telecommunications. The project is to investigate advanced communication and signal processing techniques for the next generation wireless systems.

Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a Masters by Research or PhD within the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Sydney, and be willing to undertake research in the field of wireless communications and communication theory.

Applicants must have an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class upper) or master degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent.

The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the nomination of the relevant research supervisor(s) in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering.

The Scholarship will provide a stipend allowance of $9,000 (fixed amount) for up to 6 months for a Masters by Research student or a PhD student, subject to satisfactory academic performance. No extension is possible.

Where the successful recipient is in receipt of an alternative primary scholarship which also provides a stipend payment, this Scholarship will become a supplementary stipend payment

Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree prior to the commencement of the Scholarship, will be deducted from the maximum duration of the Scholarship excluding the potential extension period.

The Scholarship is for commencement in relevant research period in which it is offered for and cannot be deferred or transferred to another area of research.

No other amount is payable. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funding.

Progression is subject to passing the annual progress review.
