Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Sublinear Algorithms for Visual Analytics of Extreme-Scale Networks

An opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar to design new sublinear algorithms for the visual analytics of extreme-scale networks, involving billions of nodes.

Applicants must be an International student with an unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a PhD within the School of Information Technologies at the University of Sydney. Applicants must be willing to undertake research in the field of developing algorithms to address information visualisation. Applicants must have achieved a minimum average mark of 85 or above in their undergraduate program. Applicants must demonstrate a strong background and knowledge in visual analytics, visualisation and algorithms. The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the basis of: feedback from two academic referees, and a personal statement which demonstrates their interest in the field of visual analytics, visualisation and algorithms. The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship on the nomination of the relevant research supervisor(s) in School of Information Technologies.

The Scholarship will provide an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum Research Training Program Stipend Rate for up to three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. The recipient may apply for an extension of up to two research periods. Academic course fees, Student Services Amenities fee and Overseas Health Cover (single) are also provided for a successful international applicant, for the same duration as the stipend allowance. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree prior to the commencement of the Scholarship, will be deducted from the maximum duration of the Scholarship excluding the potential extension period. The Scholarship is for commencement in relevant research period in which it is offered for and cannot be deferred or transferred to another area of research. No other amount is payable. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funding. Progression is subject to passing the annual progress review.
