Postdoctoral Fellow at Australian National University

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral scholar position in analytical chemistry to join Australian National University. This position is available for two years. The deadline for applying is November 13, 2018.

Classification: Academic Level A

Salary package: $71,509 – $90,215 plus generous superannuation allowances

Terms: Continuing (Contingent Funded) for an initial period of 12 months

This position is located within the ANU College of Science (CoS), which comprises the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Research School of Biology, the Research School of Chemistry, the Research School of Earth Science, the Fenner School of Environment and Society, the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Research School of Physics and Engineering, and the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science. Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the entire breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities. The College has a strong tradition of research excellence that has fostered distinguished Nobel Laureate and Kyoto Prize winners and trained scientific leaders in disciplines in which the ANU is consistently ranked in the top twenty in the world.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be located within the Anti-Doping and Medicinal Chemistry Group at the Research School of Chemistry under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Malcolm McLeod. The primary focus of the position will bethe development of new chemical and enzymatic approaches for the synthesis of conjugated steroid metabolites relevant to sports drug testing and clinical diagnosis. The successful candidate will have made progress towards, or completed a PhD in chemistry, focusing on synthetic organic chemistry. Demonstrated research experience with a track record of independent work is essential. Interest and experience in steroid chemistry or analytical chemistry are beneficial.

The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of further extension.
