Mae Research Fellow ) at Monash University

Monash University, Australia is inviting excellent candidates to apply for a postdoctoral scholar position in mechanical engineering. This position is closed on November 26, 2018.

There's a certain feeling you get from working at Monash University. It's the feeling that you're a part of something special. Something significant. So if you're looking for the next chapter in your career, it's here. You'll be given the opportunity to challenge yourself, build on your skills, and make a significant contribution to a workplace that's filled with energetic and inspiring people. Talent thrives here - and so do truly satisfying careers.

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace has an international reputation for quality research and education programs. We aim to continue being a global leader in engineering science through exceptional and world-class research.

As a Research Fellow within the Laboratory for Turbulence Research in Aerospace and Combustion (LTRAC), you will be part of one of Australia's leading and internationally recognised Fluid Mechanics groups. You will be setting up complete particle image velocimetry (PIV) experiments to investigate particle-laden swirling jet flows.

As the ideal candidate, you must possess a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline with experience and specialist expertise and a strong background in the fundamentals of turbulent jet flow physics, Experimental Fluid Mechanics and the development, application and practice of PIV, experience in laboratory management and the operation, usage, maintenance and repair of Class IV lasers for research to be able to undertake the tasks described above.

This position is linked to a research grant on dry powder inhalers (DPI). It involves the design of an analogue DPI to experimentally investigate the detailed fluid flow field and the resulting particle velocity distribution and concentration using high fidelity PIV experiments.

You will further be expected to maintain a consistently high research output in the form of quality publications, supervision of students’ development and submission of grant proposals to external funding agencies, contribute more generally to communicating the research activities of the LTRAC group, participate in the LTRAC and Departmental research meetings and participation in appropriate career development activities.

If you believe you can fulfil these requirements, you are strongly encouraged to apply.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to“How to apply for Monash Jobs”.
