Clinical Senior Lecturer in Severe Asthma at Imperial College London

A new opening lecturer position in genetics is available at Imperial College London, UK. The funds for this position are available for four years. The deadline to apply is November 04, 2018.

The National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) is looking for an outstanding Clinical Senior Lecturer in respiratory science who can complement current research activity and demonstrate research interest in areas such as respiratory infections, genetics, imaging of leukocyte trafficking, lung stem cells and lung regeneration. You will have a track record of high impact publications and research grants, and will be able to contribute to the delivery of excellent research and teaching within NHLI.

The NHLI is a world-leading research centre for investigating the causes and mechanisms underlying diseases of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, and is an excellent environment for basic, clinical and translational research (NHLI website). The successful candidate will be working within the Inflammation, Repair and Development section of the Respiratory Science Division. Research within the section of Inflammation, Repair & Development encompasses all aspects of pulmonary inflammation, from development of leukocyte precursors in the bone marrow precursors, leukocyte recruitment, retention and recirculation through tissues and their role in maintenance of immune homeostasis within the lung as well as their contribution to host defence during infection, inflammation and tissue repair. The appointee will be working closely with The Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust and will have an honorary contract with them. They will join three physicians to provide specialist severe asthma management for a workload of just over 600 new referrals a year, evaluated as outpatients, day cases and inpatients.

Additionally, there are approximately 3,000 outpatient evaluations per year, performed in two outpatient clinics. Inpatient admissions, including day cases and delivery of biologics, total around 10,000 per year. You will co-provide a clinical service in severe asthma in accordance with clinical and legal requirements, at a standard in keeping with the role of the department as a national and international clinical leader in the field. This will involve liaising closely with referring physicians in developing a "shared care" ethos.

This is a full time post and is funded for four years. It is a prestigious position and we will provide a generous salary and appointment package to the successful candidate according to their experience.
