Temporary Lecturer in Sociology

The Department of Sociology is seeking to appoint a Temporary Lecturer in the Sociology of Media and Culture from 1 October 2018, for a period of one year. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a vibrant and growing Department at Cambridge.

The successful candidate will have experience of teaching at undergraduate level and will be expected to contribute to the teaching of specific areas within the HSPS Tripos, in particular in the areas of media and culture and social theory. They will also be expected to teach on the Media and Culture pathway of the Sociology MPhil and play an active role within that stream of the MPhil programme.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a willingness and ability to contribute to the continued growth of the Department, and possess a flexible approach to teaching and administrative duties. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a vibrant and growing department at Cambridge.

Candidates will need to show evidence of the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- None A doctorate in a relevant subject area (or clear evidence that completion of such a doctorate is imminent);
- None Evidence of ability to teach the subject effectively, and at all relevant levels;
- None Ability to engage and enthuse students and colleagues in their research area
- None Ability to play an effective role in the life and work of the Department
