Research Associate (Fixed Term)

We are looking to recruit a full-time postdoctoral research associate to join Dr Menna Clatworthy in the University of Cambridge Department of Medicine ( The post-holder will assist in generating single cell RNA sequencing data on human organs that contributes information to the Human Cell Atlas project ( This programme of work includes overseeing sample progression from retrieval through to sequence data analysis, using plate and droplet-based technologies in collaboration with colleagues at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. We are particularly interest in tissue-resident immune cells within the renal tract, and their relationship with those in secondary lymphoid organs and peripheral blood. We have already established these technologies within the lab, and the successful applicant would join other lab members involved in data analysis, aiming to identify and utilize cutting edge single cell sequencing and analysis techniques.
- PhD in relevant subject (e.g. Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genomics) but with a desire to expand bioinformatics and analysis capability
- Understanding of ethics of working with human tissue samples
- Excellent communication skills to allow efficient interactions with collaborators
- Experience performing single-cell or nuclei RNAseq on cells dissociated from primary tissue samples

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
