Research Associate (Fixed Term)

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoc position at University Of Cambridge. Citizens of any country are eligible to apply. Applicants should apply before September 23, 2018.

One MRC CBU postdoctoral position is available in the field of developmental cognitive neuroscience. The post would be based within the well-established programme led by Dr Duncan Astle. This programme explores systems neuroscience in typically and atypically developing children. The post holder will join a large team of early career researchers and PhD students.

The primary objective of this position is to contribute to the data collection and analysis within two large-scale datasets. The first is a 4-year longitudinal study of children growing up in low-income homes. The second is a cohort study of children with various types of developmental disorder, called the Centre for Attention, Learning and Memory. Specifically, the post-holder will have prior experience in programming and handling neuroimaging data, with a view to developing novel ways of exploring brain connectivity using functional and structural imaging.

Within the lab we use multiple different cognitive tasks, assessments, mental health measures and different types of neuroimaging (MEG and f/MRI). The post holder will be involved in data collection, but will also have substantial flexibility to pursue their own interests within the overall remit of the programme. The post holder will also have access to large-scale rich datasets hosted by the MRC CBU. Informal inquiries about the role please may be directed to Duncan Astle (
