Research Assistant/Associates in Organic/Hybride Spintronics and Organic Electronics (Fixed Term)

University Of Cambridge is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a postdoc position. All students regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply. The deadline for applying is September 24, 2018.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31.7.2020 (Post 1 & 2), 30.9.2019 (Post 2), 30.6.2021 (Post 4) in the first instance.

The Optoelectronics Group of the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, has openings for four post-doctoral research fellows to work on the device and materials physics of organic and hybrid organic-inorganic semiconductors. Three of the posts (Post 1, 2, 3) are part of a Synergy Grant funded by the European Research Council that is studying the physics of pure spin currents in these materials and involves a collaboration between the University of Cambridge, the Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory, Imperial College, the University of Mainz, and the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. The fourth post (Post 4) is part of a research grant funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) on the device physics of organic field-effect transistors and involves a collaboration between Queen Mary University London and an industrial partner. All posts are based in the group of Prof. H. Sirringhaus at the Cavendish Laboratory and will be focussed on experimental characterisation of the charge transport and spin physics of these materials.

Candidates should hold (or be about to complete) a PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related area. The following experience is highly desirable for the different posts:

Post 1 – Experience in the field of spintronics, including ideally expertise in experimental measurements of spin injection and detection in device architectures. The position is available from October 1, 2018 and is for 22 months.

Post 2 – Experience in the field of spintronics, including ideally expertise in electron spin resonance spectroscopy and organic materials. The position is available from October 1, 2018 and is for 22 months.

Post 3 – Experience in the materials or device physics of organic or hybrid semiconductors. The position is available from September 15, 2018 and is for 12.5 months.

Post 4 – Experience in the device or materials physics of thin film organic semiconductors. The position is available from 1 October 2018 and is for 34 months.

Please see the attached further information file for the relevant post for more role specific details.
