Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term)

University Of Cambridge has an opening postdoc position. This fellowship is available for all students around the world. Applications are invited up to September 30, 2018.

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position investigating microbial and bacteriophage dynamics and evolution at the Cavendish Laboratory (Department of Physics, University of Cambridge).

The successful candidate will join the research group led by Dr. Diana Fusco. The group’s research focuses on developing models to understand how spatial growth affects the evolution of microbial and viral systems.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a PhD in biophysics/molecular biology/microbiology/biochemistry or related fields. Experience in microscopy and/or genome modification techniques are also essential.

Where the successful applicant does not yet have a PhD, he/she will normally be under-appointed as a Research Assistant in a Research Associate post (on the understanding that he/she will be appointed as a Research Associate upon successful completion of his/her PhD). Successful candidates who have not been awarded their PhD by the appointment date will be appointed as a Research Assistant at Grade 5 (25,728 – 29,799 per annum). Upon award of the PhD the individual will be promoted to Research Associate, Grade 7 (31,604 – 38,833 per annum).

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 36 months in the first instance.
