Research Assistant at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge, UK is inviting excellent candidates to apply for a postdoc position in immunology. The deadline to apply is October 28, 2018.

We are seeking an experienced Research Assistant to aid in developing a state of the art immunology service focussed on monitoring human immunity.

This new role is an exciting and key position within the Department of Medicine and the Cambridge BRC Phenotyping Hub, reporting directly to the Senior Research Associate and the Academic Lead (Professor of Experimental Medicine). The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing immunological assays and providing routine analysis of markers used to monitor human immunity. The post holder will be integrated within the Clinical Cytomics Service and will provide contingency and cover for other services under this umbrella.

The Department of Medicine is one of the largest in the University, comprising 12 Divisions, each involved in research related to human disease. Principal investigators are a mix of clinical as well as non-clinical scientists. The Department has a total of about 560 staff (including 27 Professors) and holds research grants totalling in excess of 145m (annual expenditure around 30 million). The Department operates from numerous sites around the Addenbrooke’s Biomedical Campus and is expanding in size and scope. Two current key projects are the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Diseases (CITIID), to open in 2019, and the Heart and Lung Research Institute (HLRI), which is in the planning phase.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in a relevant field, should be willing to continuously work on developing new tools, and have an interest in mass spectrometry based research platforms and imaging techniques.
