The Hamlyn Centre is dedicated for developing safe, effective and accessible imaging, sensing and robotics technologies that can reshape the future of healthcare. Focusing on technological innovation but with a strong emphasis on clinical translation and direct patient benefit with a global impact, the centre is at the forefront of research in imaging, sensing and robotics for addressing global health challenges associated with demographic, environment, social and economic changes.

The position is created by a major EPSRC Manufacturing in Healthcare Technologies grant to the Centre for developing novel robotic platform for creating personalised stent graft for endovascular intervention. The project involves the development of a new stent-graft sewing robot incorporating cooperative control combined with a real-time vision system for automatic 3D manufacturing. The project is to be carried out by a multidisciplinary team with complementary research skills in robotics, sensing, imaging, and endovascular intervention.
- Plan and carry out research in accordance with the project aims and timeframes, in collaboration with members of the collaborating departments and the Hamlyn Centre
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all research, development and findings
- Contribute to the writing of research reports and papers
- Disseminate results through publications and present findings at research meetings and conferences
- Collaborate with and provide assistance and guidance to students at all levels, but not as a main activity
- Provide advice and guidance to other members of the departments, when necessary
- In addition to research, assist with teaching duties and the supervision of undergraduate and MSc/MRes projects, as required
