Postdoctoral Scientist at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a Postdoc position. This fellowship is available for all students around the world. Applications are invited up to October 01, 2018.

Applications are invited to recruit an enthusiastic post-doctoral scientist to work in a Pfizer ITEN funded project in the group of Dr James Nathan. We employ an integrated approach, using biochemistry, cell biology, and CRISPR genetic screens, to understand how protein degradation is regulated by the ubiquitin proteasome system and its relevance to the hypoxia response and mitochondrial function. This project is one of only 4 Pfizer sponsored basic science discovery research projects worldwide, aimed at understanding new biological roles for ubiquitin enzymes.

Candidates must have experience in molecular and cell biology, and must have a PhD in the biological, biochemical or biomedical sciences. Relevant post-doctoral experience is desirable and a background in ubiquitination and genetic screen approaches would be beneficial.

Applicants will be expected to work closely and interactively with colleagues in different disciplines within the lab and within the wider Pfizer collaboration, to have good communications skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.

Informal enquiries can be sent to Dr James Nathan (
