Postdoctoral Position in Metal-organic Frameworks Synthesis Topology Catalysis and Magnetism

Chalmers University of Technology is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a new opening postdoc position in structural chemistry. The funding allows successful candidate to work for two years. All candidates regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply before October 31, 2018.

Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is the largest department at Chalmers with research ranging from the most fundamental level to a level close to application in industry and society. The research activities reach from DNA-research and biomaterials to high temperature corrosion, catalysis and recycling. The Department is also heavily committed to teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, as well as postgraduate level in these areas.

Lars hrstrm’s research is devoted to various fundamental aspects of Metal-Organic Frameworks and Coordination Polymers. This project aims at developing MOF synthesis with application aims in catalysis and magnetism. Our approach also includes topology aspects and a computer guided design loop for the magnetic MOFs.

Major responsibilities

The major responsibility is to carry out own research and tasks related to normal laboratory work, and to communicate research results in papers and through oral presentations. In addition, some teaching tasks may be included, as well as drafting proposals for additional funding.

Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position also includes teaching on undergraduate and master’s levels as well as supervising master’s and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry and public sector.

Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).


We are looking for a PhD with experience in synthesis and characterization of Metal-Organic Frameworks or related materials, with a strong interest in structural chemistry or catalysis who wants to develop these skills further, and also take on computational chemistry challenges. The successful candidate should be a highly motivated, quality conscious individual with a PhD in chemistry. You should find it motivating working alone as well as in close collaboration with others. As Chalmers is a highly international environment proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary.
