Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge, UK is inviting excellent candidates to apply for a postdoctoral fellowship position in computational biology. This position is available for 3 years. This position is closed on October 31, 2018.

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Dr Jasmin Fisher https://www.bioc.cam.ac.uk/research/uto/fisher in the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Cambridge, Central Cambridge to work on in-silico modelling of breast cancer. The project will involve the development of an in-silico (computational) model of breast cancer based on the integration of genomic profiles with imaging data to predict the response to different therapeutic regimes and guide optimal treatment decisions. This research will further our ongoing studies of cellular signalling and molecular pathology using an executable biology approach to define the mechanistic rules by which oncogenic signalling pathways regulate cancers evolution.

The successful candidate will be working in close collaboration with the Caldas lab at the CRUK Cambridge Institute and colleagues from the Integrative Cancer Medicine (ICM) Programme, the Department of Oncology and CRUK Cambridge Institute. The overarching objective of ICM is to deliver a revolutionary new treatment paradigm for cancer patients. This concept envisages the integration of clinical, laboratory, mathematical and computational science and technology to chart precision medicine approaches for all patients.

Candidates should hold or about to be awarded a PhD in either computational biology, computer science, physics, mathematics or biological sciences with substantial experience in computational work and must have a proven track record of research achievements. Previous experience in cancer research is a plus, but not a requirement. Background in formal verification methods would be an advantage. Candidates will need to have the initiative to work independently and as part of a team. Due to the highly interdisciplinary nature of this project, effective communication skills are essential.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Jasmin Fisher – jf416@cam.ac.uk
