Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

A new openingpostdoctoral researcher position in biochemistry is available at University of Cambridge, UK. The deadline for applying is October 10, 2018.

We seek a highly skilled and experienced researcher to join the group of Professor Alan Warren at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

The Warren lab uses a multidisciplinary approach including genetics, biochemistry and structural studies (Zyryanova et al. Science 2018; Warren AJ. Adv Biol Regul 2018; Weis et al. Nature Struct Biol 2015; Wong et al. Blood 2011; Barlow et al. Nat Med. 2010; Finch et al. Genes Dev 2011; Menne et al. Nat Genet 2007) to investigate mechanisms of eukaryotic ribosome maturation and to understand how corruption of this process causes developmental and cancer predisposition. We have a particular focus on the ribosomopathies, including Shwachman-Diamond syndrome and Diamond-Blackfan anaemia, and on the 60S ribosomal subunit.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of research in Shwachman-Diamond syndrome and Diamond-Blackfan anaemia with several relevant first author publications. They must have experience in mouse modelling, preferably with Shwachman-Diamond syndrome and Diamond-Blackfan anaemia. They should have prior involvement in study of the 60S ribosomal subunit. They will have significant experience designing their own experiments and analysing their data. They must have a PhD in a relevant area of the biological sciences.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 months in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment and a security check.

Martin Dawes is responsible for the recruitment for this post and can be contacted at .
