Postdoc Position at Imperial College London

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral fellowship position in molecular biology at Imperial College London, UK. The deadline to apply is October 25, 2018.

This post at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) is for an outstanding postdoctoral research associate. This a fantastic opportunity for a basic science scientist who is passionate, knowledgeable and very well published in microRNAs (including microRNA trafficking), angiogenesis and ischemic disease.

You will join a highly successful team, which benefits from many national and international scientific collaborations, including a Leducq Transatlantic Network of Excellence in Vascular miRNAs, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Centre of Regenerative Medicine, an EEU COST action on Cardio RNAs. Professor Emanueli is the new vice-chair, and a large EEU grant assessing the collateral damage of impact of low dose radiotherapy (in WP4, Professor Emanueli is leading on the development of microRNAs and exosomes as novel circulating biomarker of heart changes). You will contribute to deliver research within the BHF research programme grant of Professor Emanueli entitled "MicroRNAs in ischaemic heart disease and diabetes mellitus: from cardiac surgery to basic science (and back?)".

Proficiency in fluorescent microscopy and morphometric analyses are necessary. You will be able to measure miRNA expression in cell system and in tissue and fluid samples and to perform functional experiments assessing the impact of microRNA inhibition or overexpression in vitro and in several angiogenesis in vivo models. The successful candidate will have a PhD in molecular biology, physiology or pharmacology within the cardiovascular field, or equivalent, and will have typically developed academic research at excellent level from PhD studies.

You will be expected to be very prolific in terms of high-quality data production and critical analyses and to contribute to important research articles. You will also support the PI facilitating her programme grant renewal with good published and pilot data and written communication. Also, you will be committed to present research at national and international conferences, workshop, and other networking events (including summer schools). Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term up until 31st May 2020
