Position for A PhD Student in Stream Microbial Ecology

Mission :

The Stream Biofilm and Ecosystem Research Laboratory seeks an outstanding candidate to work as a PhD student on an project (Sinergia, SNF) at the interface between stream microbial ecology, geomorphology and hydrodynamics in glacier floodplains in the Swiss Alps. Main duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary consortium including EPFL (Prof. Tom Battin), University of Lausanne (Prof. Stuart Lane), ETH Zrich (Prof. Mark Lever) and the University of Luxembourg (Prof. Paul Wilmes). The PhD student will be supervised by Prof. T. Battin and Prof. S. Lane. Your profile:

The candidate should hold a master degree (or equivalent) in ecology, microbiology or environmental sciences. Good knowledge in bioinformatics and/or quantitative methods in ecology are most welcome.The capability to work in a team in high-alpine ecosystems and excellent knowledge of English are required.
