PhD Student Position in Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience of Decision Making

ETH Zurich is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a PhD position. Citizens of any country are eligible to apply. Applicants should apply as soon as possible.

The Decision Neuroscience Lab at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) invites applications for a doctoral student position in the topic: neuro-computational modelling of decision behavior. PhD student position in cognitive and computational neuroscience of decision making

We invite applications for a doctoral student position in the topic: neuro-computational modelling of decision behavior in a project at the Decision Neuroscience Lab headed by Prof. Rafael Polania funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The successful candidate will work with Prof. Polania on the neural basis of human decision making using computational modelling and cutting-edge multimodal neuroimaging techniques.

The PhD candidate should have, or soon have, a good master's degree (or similar for the case of students from U.S.A.) with strong background in applied mathematics, statistics or computational (neuro)sciences in a relevant discipline (e.g., computer science, physics, applied mathematics, economics). Candidates should speak and write English proficiently. The ideal candidates will have excellent skills in computer programming (extensive experience with R, Matlab and/or C++ is a requirement) and the use of advanced software for behavioral and brain imaging data analysis (M/EEG, fMRI) would be beneficial. Above all, candidates should be enthusiastic about learning new techniques, theories of decision-making and contributing to new experiments. Applications are welcome from overseas students as well as Swiss and EU nationals. Employment will begin in January 2019, but an earlier start date can be negotiated.
