The research team 'Dermatology Research Unit' (DRU) of Professor Jo Lambert is looking for a medical doctor to work on 'Therapeutic Drug Monitoring' in the fields of psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa. In this project, we aim to define the most optimal serological concentration of biologicals in patients with moderate to severe psoriasis or hidradenitis suppurativa.

You will join a highly motivated team where translational research is the main focus. We are linked to the Department of Dermatology at the Ghent University Hospital; and the clinical issues there form the basis of our research questions. Simultaneously, the Department serves as an implementation field for the research performed at the DRU. You'll be part of a research team that performs both clinical and lab-based tasks. Prof Lamber's team serves as a reference both at the national and international level and is involved in many collaborations.

In this project, you will work as a doctoral student both at the Department of Dermatology at the Ghent University Hospital and as a researcher at DRU at Ghent University. You will be responsible for the medical side of the project 'Therapeutic Drug Monitoring'. As a medical doctor, you will be involved in specialized consultation formats called PsoPlus and HSurPlus, specifically designed for psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa, respectively. During these consultations, in addition to usual care, you screen and recruit eligible patients for your doctoral research. You will also collect and guard data and sample collection.

We offer a 4-year position as a doctoral student in an FWO-supported project (Toegepast Biomedisch onderzoek met een primair Maatschappelijke finaliteit, TBM) at the Ghent University. During your doctoral research, you will be guided by experienced researchers and you get the opportunity to perform translational research, close to the patient. Additionally, you'll get access to the (inter)national network of the team to perform your research and expand your own network. You will also receive the opportunity to present your data at (inter)national congresses and meetings and publish your results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
