PhD Scholarships in Chemistry and Chemical/Materials Engineering

Applicants are invited to apply for a PhD scholarship in materials engineering at Monash University. Applicants should apply before October 29, 2018.

Monash University is offering a new cutting-edge PhD Program with strong industry links: An opportunity for graduates to work directly with the industry.

A unique, exciting opportunity exists for a select group of exceptionally talented candidates interested in the chemical and plastics industry.

You will work directly with industry and top researchers, driving innovation within the chemicals and polymers industry as part of a super-charged Monash PhD program.

This program offers exceptional opportunities for its graduates to work directly with the industry, build networks, develop business acumen and move directly into a job at the end of your PhD.

The Australian Chemicals and Polymers (C&P) industry is the second largest manufacturing industry in Australia, contributing over $11.6 billion to the economy. The C&P manufacturing sector needs new technologies and processes to ensure long-term growth. There is a need for elite, highly-trained, innovation-focused experts to drive new products and processes in this critically important sector.

Monash is Top 30 in the world for the combined capability in chemistry, chemical engineering and materials engineering/science, with recent investment into this area exceeding $100M and strong partnerships with over 20 industry participants.

The PhD program will be based in a state-of-the-art building on the Clayton campus (Melbourne), with high-quality laboratories and facilities, including the very best industry standard equipment.

Applications are sought from students with a H1 (first class or equivalent) honours degree (or equivalent) in a range of relevant discipline areas such as, but not limited to, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science. Applicants will also need to meet the University's minimum English language proficiency requirements for admission to the PhD program.

Note: Applicants for the Monash University scholarship domestic student round, which closes on October 31st, can also apply for the C&P Scholarships and will be considered for both types of scholarship, but an expression of interest must be provided for C&P Scholarships (see below). A separate full application on-line is required for the Monash central scholarships by October 31st.
