PhD Scholarship Interested in Cancer Biology Transcriptional Regulation Mouse Models and Computational Biology

A new PhD position in computational biology is available at University of Ghent. The deadline to apply is October 31, 2018.

The lab of Prof Pieter Van Vlierberghe is interested in the molecular biology of childhood leukemia. Currently, we are looking for a PhD student that wants to work on a project that aims to decipher the role of the transcription factor MYB in the pathogenesis of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The candidate will use a conditional MYB knockin mouse model to study the role of this transcriptional regulator during malignant T cell transformation in vivo. In addition, transcriptional profiling of mouse and human leukemia cell lines will be used to decipher the molecular mechanism by which MYB contributes to leukemogenesis.

- Candidates should have a master degree in bio-engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Biology or Biotechnology

- Interest, affinity and ideally previous experience in mouse modelling and/or computational biology/bio-informatic analysis of sequencing data sets during master thesis

- Broad interest in normal and malignant hematopoiesis – leukemia disease biology – transcriptional regulation in cancer biology
